Has Senator Corker even read the Tennessee lawsuit?
TN GOP’s Deputy Communications director confirmed today that Sen. Bob Corker will “be giving some remarks at the SEC meeting on Saturday.”
No word yet whether Bob will share pictures from the Easter trip he took with Democrat Chris Coons, to the Bidi Bidi refugee camp in Uganda to look specifically at issues related to food shortages and the impact of the President’s proposed budget. Upon his return, Bob was asked if he had any recommendations for President Trump regarding dealing with the refugee issue. Forgetting(?) perhaps that Tennessee has sued the federal government over its refugee resettlement program, Bob said that he hopes to “move back to the regular process that we’ve been in for some time” and “normalize what we have been doing in this regard for many years.”
Bob will be treating all the State Executive Committee members to lunch. We’ve been told that he will also feed any county party Chairmen that show up so that no one goes hungry. Lunch will be served at the 5-star Hermitage Hotel.

This message almost set The Tennessee Star tipline on fire – Speaker Beth Harwell, a Republican of some sort, has supposedly made her first pitch for a gubernatorial Campaign Manager. Ever the shrewd across-the-aisle politician, Harwell has supposedly invited Harvey Fischer, a Democrat from Columbia, TN and the registered lobbyist for Farmers Insurance Group to take the job.
Farmers’ PAC sponsored the Mule Day lunch at the capitol last year although there’s no record of how many a***s (four-legged variety that is) showed up for the chow.
If Beth has any chance of rural Tennesseans seeing her as a credible GOP gubernatorial candidate, she’ll have to shake off some of her urbanesque couture. So Harvey could be just the ticket but then how to explain that to the conservatives? You know, those people that handed Trump the state of Tennessee.
The Gas Tax that keeps on giving…
State Rep. Ron Travis was heard bragging today that his YES vote for a tax increase is bringing 400 jobs to Rhea County! Because that’s how real conservative government principles work dontcha know. Or maybe it’s just how political horse-trading gets done.
And now that Ron can prove how conservative he is by making his constituents pay more for their gas and diesel, he’s been been heard to say that he will primary Congressman Scott DesJarlais who is ranked the fourth most conservative member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
All we can say Ron is bring it on and, good luck with that!
Bob Corker has been such a disappointment. He should not be re-elected as a Republican because he is definitely more of a Democrat, supporting Obama left and right, even voting to push the Iran deal through where they were given billions. Now this? Does he want more refugees? And I don’t appreciate him talking about President Trump after he wasn’t picked as Secretary of State. He was sure all about Trump then, but after he wasn’t chosen, he talks badly about the President. Corker should GO! He does not support conservative Tennesseans.

Bob Corker needs to put a cork in his pie hole and spend more time talking to people all over the state of Tennessee, not just his rich, chamber of commerce buddies from Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville and Memphis.
